Thanksgiving Win for Bears!

On a rainy Thanksgiving night at Lambeau Field, two division rivals faced off in a game that showed why their rivalry is one of the greatest rivalries in sports. The Green Bay Packers sat on top of the division, but the Chicago Bears didn't let that phase them as they came into Green Bay and stunned Packers nation.
The Bears defense showed glimpses of the old Chicago defense that everyone is used to, as they only allowed one touchdown and forced two turnovers. Aaron Rodgers, who is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, was held to only 202 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception.

The Bears offense struggled at the beginning of the game as they went three-and-out on their first three possessions. After the Bears' defense forced their first turnover, the offense finally found some life as Jay Cutler found TE Zach Miller for a 3-yard touchdown on third-and-goal, which tied the score at 7-7.
The Packers got a big return on the ensuing kickoff, as Jeff Janis returned it all the way to the Bears' 33. The Packers couldn't get anything going on offense but were still in range for a Mason Crosby 22-yard field goal, which gave them a 10-7 lead.
The Bears didn't waste anytime answering though as Jeremy Langford capped off a big drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left in the first half to give the Bears a 14-10 lead. Green Bay wouldn't go away and marched down the field really fast to set up another Mason Crosby field goal as time expired in the first half.
Early in the first quarter Robbie Gould hit a 21-yard field goal to make it a 17-13 Chicago lead. Green Bay threatened on two different drives late in the fourth quarter, but could not capitalize as Aaron Rodgers threw an interception to Tracy Porter on Green Bay's second to last drive. Then with :22 left in the game, Rodgers couldn't connect with receiver Davante Adams in the end zone and sealed the victory for the Bears.
The Bears offense fought off a rainy night and didn't commit a single turnover the entire game. Jay Cutler completed 19-31 passes for 200 yards, a touchdown, and a 90.8 passer rating.
The Bears have now won three straight games on the road after this win and stand with a 5-6 record.

Bears come up short!

Coming up just short seems to be the theme for the Chicago Bears this season as they fall once again by 3 or less points. The Bears came up one play short against the Denver Broncos and lost a defensive battle 17-15.
With the Broncos without star quarterback Peyton Manning, the Bears were looking to capitalize on his absence and get a win that plan didn't go so well. Although, the Bears' defense played well and kept them in the game, the Broncos defense played just as good. Chicago's offense didn't see the end zone until :24 left in the ball game when Jeremy Langford scored from two yards out.
The Denver defense showed why they are the number one ranked defense in the NFL, but it didn't help that the Bears were missing three key players on offense as they played without Matt Forte, Alshon Jefferey, and Eddie Royal. Without those three the Bears didn't show too much life on offense and had to settle for just three Robbie Gould field goals on their first 10 possessions.
Six of the last seven games for the Bears have been decided by three or less points and the ones they have lost have been by 3, 3, and 2.

Bears punish Rams 37-13

Despite missing some key players due to injury, the Bears didn't miss a beat in their game Sunday versus the Rams as they unleashed big plays after big plays. The two biggest plays came in the first half as the Bears scored touchdowns on 87 and 83-yard passes. The Rams found the end zone on their first drive but the Bears did a good job holding them out of the end zone after that and only allowing a field goal the rest of the game.
Quarterback Jay Cutler played yet another terrific game as he racked up 233 yards and threw for three touchdowns in just the first half. Two of those three first half touchdowns from Cutler were to TE Zach Miller who turned a short pass into an explosive 87-yard touchdown. Miller caught five catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns on the day. He has now caught three touchdown passes in the past two games. Rookie running back Jeremy Langford, who replaced injured Matt Forte, scampered for an 83-yard touchdown on a perfectly executed screen. Langford had a very productive day rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown along with 109 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The Bears took their first lead of the game in the second quarter going up 17-10 after Miller's second touchdown grab and they would never look back after that. The Bears outscored the Rams 30-3 over the final three quarters. The Bears reverted back to old habits on defense producing two turnovers on the day and held star running back Todd Gurley to only 45 yards on 12 carries.

The Bears are riding a two game winning streak and are now 4-5 on the season. The Bears face the Denver Broncos who will be without Peyton Manning next week.

Bears Win on Monday Night

The Chicago Bears complete the comeback in prime time as they beat the San Diego Chargers 22-19 on Monday Night Football. The Bears trailed the entire game before quarterback Jay Cutler put together a game-winning drive in the final minutes. Down 19-14, Cutler found TE Zach Miller who made an incredible one-handed catch for a touchdown to give the Bears the lead. The Bears would punch in the two-point conversion and would lead 22-19. The Chargers went to work on the ensuing drive and was hoping to find a chance to win, but the Bears stepped up and shut them down. Lamarr Houston came up huge with two sacks on Phillip Rivers which pushed the Chargers back and they would eventually turn the ball over on downs. With this win the Bears are now 3-5!

Late field goal gives Bears a crushing lost

Once again the Bears lose a heartbreaker to another divisional rival late in the fourth quarter. Although Jay Cutler scrambled into the end zone from 4 yards out to give the Bears a 20-13 lead with 4:55 left in the game, the Bears made some costly mistakes late in the game. The Minnesota Vikings capitalized on those mistakes and scored 10 points in the game's last two minutes to escape the Windy City with a 23-20 victory.
Vikings' wide receiver Stefon Diggs spun away from a tackle on a short pass and turned it into a 40-yard touchdown to tie the game at 20 with 1:49 to play. Following that the Bears took over on offense but was forced to punt after rookie running back Jeremy Langford dropped a third-down pass that would have given the Bears a first down. The Vikings got the ball back and took a shot down field to receiver Charles Johnson who made an incredible catch and was brought down at the Chicago 27 yard line. That then set up the game-winning 36-yard field goal by Blair Walsh as time expired.
Quarterback Jay Cutler played well completing 22 of his 33 passes for 211 yards and 2 total touchdowns. Alshon Jeffery was on the receiving end of one of those touchdowns as he made a key play outleaping the cornerback to snag a touchdown pass that tied the game at 10 right before the first half ended. Jeffery finished the day with 116 yards on 10 catches.
The defense played well for Chicago too, before giving up that last touchdown the Stefon Diggs. Before that the Bears kept the Vikings out of the end zone or the first 58 minutes of the game. "There are not a lot of blowouts in the NFL. You're going to be in some tight games and you've got to find a way to win in the fourth quarter" said Coach John Fox after the game.
The Bears now drop to 2-5 on the season and get back to work this week looking to get something rolling as they head to San Diego to face the Chargers.

Controversial Call

Bears fan Robert Harper on his thoughts of the controversial call that may have costed the Bears the game.

Did the Bears get cheated by the refs?

The Bears lost a heartbreaking 37-34 ball game to Detroit in overtime this past Sunday. But some would say the Bears should have won that game. It appeared the Bear's defense had intercepted the ball late in the first half, but the call was reversed. Matthew Stafford bulleted a slant to wide receiver Golden Tate and has he was crossing the end zone, cornerback Kyle Fuller of the Bears stripped the ball and it was eventually intercepted by linebacker Jonathan Anderson with :53 seconds left in the half. The officials first ruled it an interception and touchback, but the play was reviewed and reversed to a touchdown for the Lions. That was a key factor in the game as the Bears lost the game by three points and if the call would have stood as an interception like first called, the touchdown would be erased and you would assume the Bears win the game.

In the end the Detroit Lions made one more play than the Bears that made the difference in the game. Late in overtime, Calvin Johnson made a leaping 57-yard pass from Matthew Stafford at the Chicago 6-yard line. The big reception set up the game winning field goal by Matt Prater. The kick gave the Lions their first victory of the season and snapped the Bear's two game winning streak.

Jay Cutler had a good game for the Bears, completing 26 of 41 passes for 353 yards with a touchdown and one interception. Alshon Jeffery had a good day at the office in his return to the lineup after missing the last four games with a hamstring injury. Jeffery caught eight passes for 147 yards and a Bears' touchdown. But the Bears struggled a bit on the defensive side of the ball and the Lions' Matthew Stafford threw the ball all over the Bears' defense. Stafford threw for 405 yards on 27 of 42 passes and four touchdowns. Star receiver Calvin Johnson caught six of those passes for 166 yards and the go-ahead touchdown that set up the game-winning field goal.

The Bears lose a tough one, but get to regroup and fix the little things as they head into their bye week.

Bears come back in Kansas City

The Bears offense must have been told that Sunday's game didn't start until the fourth quarter because through three quarters they were very quiet before a late spark lifted them to victory.
From the very start of the game it looked like it was going to be a long day if you were a Chicago fan after the Chiefs took an early 7-0 lead when Jay Cutler fumbled on a sack and it was recovered by linebacker Ramie Wilson in the end zone for a TD. The Bears failed to score a touchdown on 10 possessions throughout the game. Even though the offense struggled, the defense played strong all day and kept the Bears in the game. The defense shut out the Chiefs offense in the second half and forced multiple three-and-outs late in the game, which allowed the Bears offense to put points on the board.

As the Bears trailed the Chiefs 17-6, Jay Cutler went to work by throwing two touchdowns in the final few minutes of the game. Cutler dropped an absolute dime to Marquess Wilson in the left corner of the end zone to cut the deficit to 17-12 with 3:05 to play. Defensive back Tracy Porter broke up an Alex Smith pass intended for Jeremy Maclin on third-and-six and the Bears got the ball back with 2:04 left. Cutler would hit rookie Cameron Meredith twice down the field for 20 and 10 yard gains. On third-and-10, Cutler fired a ball to Wilson that fell incomplete but the Bears were bailed out with a pass interference penalty by cornerback Marcus Peters which gave the Bears a first down. Two plays later, Cutler connected with Matt Forte for the winning touchdown with :18 left. Cutler actually fumbled the ball on the play but kept his composure, scooped it up, and threw it to Forte.
The Chiefs would miss a field goal on the next possession as time expired. The Bears play the role of the comeback kids and stun the Chiefs late in the game to win their second straight game.

Bears get first win off the leg of Gould

The Bears record was looking like it was going to fall to 0-4 during the game against the Oakland Raiders as the Raiders took a 20-19 lead late in the game, but the Bears weren't having it. After falling down 20-19 with 2:05 left to play, the Bears offense behind Jay Cutler put together a good two-minute drive capped off by a Robbie Gould game-winning 49-yard field goal with :02 left in the game.
Gould's kick gave the Bears their first win under coach John Fox and improved their record to 1-3. The Bears got a good lift from quarterback Jay Cutler who returned to the lineup after missing a week due to a hamstring injury. Cutler threw for 281 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while completing 28 of 43 passes. For playing through an injury that most guys wouldn't, Cutler played an outstanding game and led his team to victory.

Martellus Bennett and Eddie Royal were on the receiving end of the two touchdowns thrown by Cutler. The Bears erased deficits of 14-6, 17-16, and 20-19 during the game and got their first win since last Nov. 23 when they beat the Buccaneers 21-13.

The Bears hope to get another win as they prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

Bears blanked by Seahawks

With two key players on the offensive side of the ball, Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery, out with injuries, the Bears were relying on a big game from their defense and running game when they faced Seattle. Chicago's plan seemed to be working in the first half as the defense only allowed two field goals and 125 total yard. Bears running back Matt Forte rushed for 64 yards on 15 carries in the first half.
The Bears had some more trouble on special teams this week as they allowed Seahawks Tyler Lockett to return the second half kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown giving Seattle a 13-0 lead. Seattle would go on to dominate the second half, outgaining the Bears 246-37 in second half yards. Seattle's Russell Wilson connected with tight end Jimmy Graham for a 30-yard score late in the third quarter for Seattle's only offensive touchdown.
Wilson completed 20 of 30 passes fro 235 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Seattle's Marshawn Lynch exited the game with a hamstring injury, but rookie Thomas Rawls picked up the slack by rushing for 104 yards on 16 carries.

This is the first time the Bears have started the season 0-3 since the 2003 season and is also the first time they have been shut out since the 2002 season finale when they lost to the Buccaneers. The Bears will look for their first win of the season next week when they host the Oakland Raiders.

Cardinals scrape the Bears

After a tough week 1 loss, the Bears hoped to bounce back in week 2 as the Arizona Cardinals came to town, but sadly that wasn't the case for the 'Monsters of the Midway'. The Bears defense was nowhere to be found in a 48-23 loss to the Cardinals Sunday at Soldier Field. The Bears allowed four touchdowns on five possessions during one span of the game. Not only did the defense give up touchdowns, but the offense and special teams also gave up crucial touchdowns on Sunday.
The Bears knew they were in for a long day when they gave up a score on the very first game as the Cardinals David Johnson returned the opening kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown. The Bears would answer back though as Jay Cutler tossed a 48-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Josh Bellamy to tie the game 7-7 in the first quarter. On the Cardinals first offensive possession they marched down the field and Carson Palmer would eventually connect with Jaron Brown for a 6-yard touchdown giving them a 14-7 lead. The Bears would answer once again though as the Bears put together a drive  themselves and handed the rock to running back Jeremy Langford who punched it in from 1-yard out as the Bears tied the game 14-14. Arizona would react fast and took control as they scored two touchdowns in a span of 52 seconds to make it a 28-14 game. The Bears wouldn't fold when faced with adversity. They generated two turnovers in the second quarter of the game, but weren't able to capitalize with touchdowns as they had to settle for two field goals from Robbie Gould to make the score 28-20 at halftime.
The Cardinals put an end to the game real quick in the beginning of the second half as they scored touchdowns on their first two possessions of the third quarter making it a 42-20 score. The Bears would eventually add another field goal to their score and the Cardinals would find the end zone one more time to make it a final 48-23 score favoring the Cardinals. The Bears defense could not stop Carson Palmer and the Cardinals offense. Carson Palmer threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns and Larry Fitzgerald caught three of those four touchdowns. The Bears shot themselves in the foot all day, committing 14 penalties for 170 yards.
On the offensive side of the ball for Chicago, Cutler looked good completing 8 of 8 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game with an hamstring injury early in the first half. Cutler will be looked at more later in the week to determine the severity of the injury.
After this loss, The Bears dropped to 0-2 for the first time since the 2003 season. The 48 point put up by the Cardinals were the most points the Bears have ever allowed at home in franchise history. The Bears are on the road at Seattle next Sunday!

Bears show good signs, but lose a tough one

The Bears opened the 2015 season, under new coach John Fox, against the defending NFC North champion Green Bay Packers Sunday at Soldier Field. The team looked good in the beginning taking a 13-10 lead into halftime. That lead wouldn't last though as reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers did what he does best and started slinging the ball down the field early in the second half. Rodgers threw his second and third touchdowns of the game on the first two possessions of the second half, giving the Packers the lead that they would not give up.
The Bears ran the ball good all day behind All-Pro running back Matt Forte, who rushed for 141 yards and had a lot of success on third down. The Bears offense scored on four of its first five possessions of the game, but failed to execute late in the game when it really mattered. Quarterback Jay Cutler threw 3 straight incomplete passes from the 2 yard line and on fourth and goal Cutler felt the pressure from the Packers defense and overthrew Eddie Royal in the back of the end zone resulting in a turnover on downs late in the game. The Bears defense held strong and forced a three-and-out, giving the offense another chance to get a quick score, but Cutler's pass intended for Martellus Bennett was intercepted by Clay Matthews at the Green Bay 20 yard line. Although Cutler threw a costly pick late in the game, he did not have a bad performance as he completed 18 of 36 passes for 225 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Both teams would score again on each of their next possessions and a failed onside kick recovered by the Packers with :34 left in the game would seal the win for Green Bay. The Bears have now lost four straight to the Packers. The Bears will look to improve from this game and will be back home at Soldier Field next Sunday to take on a good Arizona Cardinals team.
